XML this XML that ...

Sick and tired of all this obsessive blind push toward a format believed in some circles to end all formats. OK it has some good uses, but storing everything in XML without at least considering what internal structure should the document have is ridiculous by my accounts.

Just because there are a zillion parsers out there does not mean that data will become more accessible. Differences in abstractions can ruin everything, what an application thinks at as nothing more than just a few paragraphs for other one needs to be interpreted as an entire different structure like a domain specific report. Conversion means parsing and even if you operate at higher level than sequence of bytes it is still parsing or better put XML scraping.
